Market Update
Due to the virus and slowdown of restaurants we took sometime away from updates. as things start to pickup we will begin to due updates again. Sorry for the inconvienence Will see and increase on items as restaurants start to open up again and people start to get out. Lettuce and romaine are the first to increase and will most likely continue going forward. Due to the lack of help and truckers on the road shipping prices have increased. As for quality everything looks great no problems there. The crews picking the crops are much lower almost half of them are working trying to keep up. Tomato- coming down as other growers start to harvest and not just florida. Avocado- Prices are staying the same, no signs of shortage there. quality looks great. limited ripe avocados available. Will post another update on tuesday after the holiday, will be closed Market Update Market affect due to covid-19, This week should be interesting to see the real outcome for all this and to see what the future for restaurant dining will be till this all cools down. As of right now ive noticed a slight drop in how much people are taking in the market. Only a few companies that are buying most of everything at the market have been big chain stores such as grocery stores. This week will have limited supply as these chains continue to buy everything to keep up with demand. Due to the virus restaurants are most likely going to see an increase in take out over dining in. Ive also heard most people will start to use cards to defeat the process of interacting with cash. Lettuce and Romaine have been affected going into this week for a few reasons mostly because of weather in Yuma Arizona as it rained for 3 days straight and limited harvesting being done. Yuma got about 3 feet of rain last week. most of the fields were flooded and all muddy making it impossible to harvest. cauliflower and celery weren't harvested at all, should expect a big shortage and increase in price this week. Tomato market hasn't changed at all, its actually gone down, but could change because of big chains buying most of the supply. Mexico has been supplying a lot of the demand and hopefully continue going forward. Green Peppers have seen a increase in price as Florida is the only one growing them at the moment. Choice green peppers are the the cheapest just a bit smaller. Will be sending more updates this week to keep everyone up to date with whats happening. Market Update
